Mary Hattori
Associate Professor
Associate Professor Mary Hattori is a Chamoru born and raised on the island of Guahan (Guam), Mary Therese Perez Hattori,Ed.D. is one of nine children born to Fermina Leon Guerrero Perez and Paul Mitsuo Hattori, of the clan Familian Titang. She is affiliate graduate faculty with the University of Hawai’i-Manoa and Chaminade University of Honolulu in the fields of educational leadership, educational technologies, indigenous leadership, indigenous research, and Pacific Islands studies. A resident in Hawai’i since 1983, she is an author, community organizer, poet, public speaker, and a consultant with a passion for empowering Pacific Islander communities through the arts, learning, and technology.

Kenneth Gofigan Kuper
Associate Professor
Kenneth Gofigan Kuper is Associate Professor of Political Science and Micronesian Studies at the University of Guam, where he serves as a research professor at the Micronesian Area Research Center focusing on geopolitics and international relations. He is also a director of the Guam-based organization, Pacific Center for Island Security, which provides an island and islander perspective to geopolitical developments in the Pacific Islands region. Kuper sits on the Government of Guam’s Commission on Decolonization and has authored the most comprehensive study on Guam’s future political status options to date. He is also a Fellow of the Pacific Academy of Sciences, a Visiting Fellow of the Pacific Regional Security Hub, and a 2025 Obama Foundation Asia-Pacific Leader.
